Kids Answer Questions About Voting & the 19th Amendment Video
At Politisit, we believe civic engagement can change communities, our nation and the world. We also value learning from our history about barriers to civic participation and voting.
Political protest has been part of our nation’s history from the very beginning. From events like the Boston Tea Party to the anti-Vietnam War protests and the Civil Rights Movements’ marches, protests have been part of the American political process. The fight for women’s right to vote was no different.
This year is the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment being enacted. The women’s suffrage movement was a decades-long fight for the right to take part in the most basic democratic right--voting. We will commemorate this year with a series of videos, starting with this: “Kids Answer Questions About Voting & the 19th Amendment.” We hope you enjoy these young voices. Please let us know if there are specific topics you would like us to address.
Politisit stands against racism and other forms of hatred. For this reason, we delayed the video release date in order to give space to the national discussion about racism and racial justice. We encourage you to continue these important discussions.
We are proud to support parents and other caregivers in our communities while they become engaged with the conversations happening right now about our government, laws and rights.
